The Real Picture of Cancer Today

How many people are suffering from cancer worldwide today?
According to huffingtonpost, every year 12.7 million people are diagnosed with cancer. Among the cancer patients, 7.6 million people face death each year. But there is evidence that these deaths could be prevented by 30 to 40 percent, and one-third could be cured if early diagnosis and treatment were done. In the US, 340,000 cases of cancer are reported every year.

What types of cancers are the most common?
Lung, prostate and colorectal cancers are in the top three position. According to the World Cancer Research Fund International, the contribution of these three cancers was 42% in 2012. Among these three, in men, the most common cancer worldwide was Lung cancer in 2012.

Which countries have the most number of cancer patients?
The highest cancer rate was found in Denmark. In 2012, 338 people (both men and women) per 100,000 were diagnosed with cancer. There were nine countries where the age-standardized rate was at least 300 per 100,000. The countries were Denmark, United States, Belgium, France, South Korea, Australia, Norway, Ireland and the Netherlands.

Who are the most vulnerable to cancer?
It is not easy to answer this question. It depends on ages and types of cancer. Testicular cancer is the most common in the 20-39 age group. On the other hand, prostate cancer is more common in older men. Below 15 years age group, the most common cancer is leukemia. The risk of getting cancer increases as you get older. You are most vulnerable when you cross 50. (chromiumj11.imascientist.org.uk)

Why is the number of cancer patients increasing day by day?
So far, experts have found one reason of increasing rate of cancers. The reason is the increase of life expectancy. According to scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org, more than three-quarters of people who are diagnosed with cancer in the UK are over the age of 60. Older people are not fit and strong enough to fight against cancer.

What kinds of cancer awareness activities are observed around the world?
To raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment World Cancer Day is observed on February 4 worldwide every year. In the United States, the month of October is observed as the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They also observe September as the National Prostate Health Month.

What kinds of cancers are curable?
According to medicaldaily.com, the 7 most curable cancers with strong 5-year survival rates are
Cervical cancer (5-year survival rate: almost 100%)
Breast cancer (5-year survival rate is 100% if it is diagnosed at early stages of 0 and 1)
Testicular cancer (5-year survival rate: 95.3%)
Prostate cancer (5-year survival rate: almost 100%)
Melanoma (5-year survival rate: 91.5%)
Thyroid (depending on tissue type, 5 year survival rate is almost 100%)
Hodgkin Lymphoma (5 year survival rate: almost 95%)

Where are the best cancer treatment centers located?
According to topmastersinhealthcare.com, the top 10 cancer treatment centers and hospitals in the world are:

1. Hospital of the University of PA – Abramson Cancer Center

There are a lot of things to know about cancer. To know details, you have to visit the sites mentioned above. Actually, we have to know a lot so that we can prevent cancer and cure it at its early stages. Only our awareness can remove our fear of cancer.

Breast Cancer | Need Early Diagnosis | Need Awareness

Are you aware of Breast Cancer? To fight against breast cancer, mammography and other forms of early detection are necessary. To raise awareness, the media, cancer survivors, and many governments have recognized the month of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In modern Western countries, the pink color is considered feminine. A ribbon of pink color symbolizes breast cancer awareness. It has been using since 1991.

A new lump or mass is the most common symptom of breast cancer. Staging of breast cancer helps plan the treatment. To classify stage, there are several ways. Among them, TNM system is widely used. Here, T for Tumor size, N for Lymph Node status and M for Metastases.

Surgery, Radiation therapy, Chemotherapy, Hormone therapy, and Targeted therapy are the treatment methods of breast cancer. The main goals of treatment are to eliminate cancer from the body as much as possible and to prevent the disease from coming back.

Breast cancer survival rates depend on the diagnosis. The survival rate is higher if it is diagnosed at the early stages. Many factors are related to the survival rates. According to the American Cancer Society, Cancer survival rates don't tell the whole story.

In the United States, the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women is breast cancer which is the second most leading cause of death among women. Every year more than 250,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer there. According to the World Health Organization, it is breast cancer which is the most common cancer among women all over the world.

Breast cancer blogs provide educational information, breakthroughs, and support regularly. Some leading blogs are:
The exact causes of breast cancer are unknown. According to nationalbreastcancer.org, Doctors seldom know why one woman develops breast cancer and another doesn't. Just it is known that breast cancer is caused by the damage of cell's DNA.

Researchers have identified that hormonal, lifestyle and environmental factors increase the risk of breast cancer. Some risk factors which are associated with breast cancer include:
  • Being female
  • Increasing age
  • A personal history of breast conditions
  • A personal history of breast cancer
  • A family history of breast cancer
  • Inherited genes that increase cancer risk
  • Radiation exposure
  • Obesity
  • Beginning your period at a younger age
  • Beginning menopause at an older age
  • Having your first child at an older age
  • Having never been pregnant
  • Postmenopausal hormone therapy
  • Drinking alcohol.
It is not obvious but some changes in lifestyle may help reduce the risk of your breast cancer. mayoclinic.org suggest you to:
  • Ask your doctor about breast cancer screening.
  • Become familiar with your breasts through breast self-exam for breast awareness.
  • Exercise most days of the week.
  • Limit postmenopausal hormone therapy.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Choose a healthy diet.

Rabies Is Dangerous | No Remedy Once Affected

Rabies is basically a fatal viral disease. The word 'Rabies' originated from a Latin word 'rave' which means 'be mad'. The beginning of this nomenclature from the behavior of rabies-affected animals or patients.

Generally, warm-blooded animals such as dogs, cats, foxes, monkeys etc. are the carriers of rabies virus. Rabies can be spread if any affected animals scratch or bite other animals or humans. Affected animal's saliva can also be responsible for the transmission of rabies if the saliva comes into contact with the mouth, eyes, or nose.

In most countries, dog bites are the main causes of rabies (about 99% cases). But in the Americas, it is bat bites which are the main source of rabies infections in humans.

Hydrophobia that means fear of water, hyperactivity, excitable behavior, and sometimes aerophobia (fear of fresh or of drafts air) are the signs of rabies. During drinking water, there may be a severe constriction, including pain in the muscles of the upper part of the esophagus. For this reason, a rabies-affected person fears water.Death is inevitable for both rabies-affected animals and humans.

According to Greek mythology, humans and animals are being infected with rabies from four thousand years ago. But till today, no medicine has been invented to cure the disease. In the past, there was no vaccine to prevent rabies. On July 6, 1885, a French scientist Louis Pasteur invented vaccines for the prevention of rabies.

The existence of rabies disease is worldwide. Every year, more than fifty-five thousand people die of rabies worldwide. Among the deaths, 95% are of the developing countries in Asia and Africa. Among them, 31,000 people die in Asia, and 20,000 people die in India.

The rural people of Asia and Africa, especially children, under the age of 15 and old people are more vulnerable to rabies. Children play with animals and adults have less ability to resist animals.

Signs of people with rabies:
  • Pain in the place of the bite;
  • Feeling of fever, pain during swallow, and convulsions;
  • Reluctant to drink water, afraid to see water;
  • Very dense sticky saliva falls;
  • Become angry suddenly;
  • Later, the patient becomes unconscious and paralyzed.
Signs of dogs with rabies:
  • If a dog gets infected with rabies, it starts behaving like a mad;
  • Tries to bite the man or animal in front of itself;
  • Always barks;
  • Falls saliva from the mouth;
  • The dog stops eating and becomes weak and dies within a few days.
Rabies prevention awareness:
Every year, World Rabies Day is observed on 28 September worldwide. The main goal of this day is to eliminate rabies by 2030. Focusing the goal, the 2017 World Rabies Day theme has been determined, Rabies: Zero by 30.

Rabies is very scary. But unfortunately, there is less awareness among people about this disease. If the symptoms of the disease are seen once, it turns to a serious condition, which leads to death. Therefore it is necessary to take steps to prevent this disease.

What to do:
  • Be aware of the animals that spread rabies such as dogs, cats, foxes etc. Especially, keep children away from these animals.
  • Give vaccine to domestic dogs and cats regularly.
  • If the dog bites, the injured place should be washed with soap water for at least 10 minutes. Never cover the wound with bandages, cloths or anything else.
  • If a dog or another animal bites or scratches, which may cause rabies, vaccination should be taken as soon as possible.

The Risk Factors of Heart Disease and Heart Attack You Should Know

A recent study conducted by a team of international researchers from Oxford University, University College London (UCL) and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland have found a relationship between more staying in education and lower risk of heart disease. Medical journal BMJ, United Kingdom published the study with strong evidences.

The study is not my topic of discussion here. Let us know the risk factors of coronary heart disease which leads to heart attack.

According to American Heart Association, there are three types of risk factors of coronary heart disease. The factors are-
  • Major risk factors
  • Modifiable risk factors and
  • Contributing risk factors
Yes, Major risk factors are not changeable. For example-
  • Increasing age
  • Male gender and
  • Heredity (with Race)
If you are older than 65 years, you have more risk of coronary heart disease. And the risk of heart attack is more if you are a woman. But actually the risk of heart disease and heart attack is more in male gender overall. The third unchangeable factor is family history including race. Studies have found more coronary heart disease and heart attack in some races.

The Major changeable risk factors are:
  • Tobacco smoke
  • High blood cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Physical inactivity
  • Obesity and overweight
  • Diabetes mellitus
The smoke of cigarette increases the risk of heart disease for not only the smokers but also the nonsmokers. If you have coronary heart disease, you have more risk of sudden cardiac death if you smoke cigarette.

The amount of High-Density-Lipoprotein (HDL), Low-Density-Lipoprotein (LDL) and Triglycerides determine the level of cholesterol in the blood. High HDL and low LDL is good. The levels of normal triglycerides vary from age and sex. High triglycerides combined with low HDL and high LDL increases the risk of heart attack as well as stroke.

High blood pressure is responsible for heart attack and congestive heart failure. Physical inactivity is responsible for coronary heart disease. If you are overweight, you have more risk of heart disease and stroke even if you do not have other risk factors.

Diabetes is responsible for developing cardiovascular disease. Sixty eight percent of people under the age of 65 who have diabetes die of some form of heart disease.

The other contributing risk factors of heart disease are:
  • Stress
  • Alcohol and
  • Diet and Nutrition
Coronary heart disease is related to stress. Some scientists have noted it. On the other hand, cardiomyopathy is related to drinking too much alcohol. But, if you want to fight against cardiovascular diseases, you have to take healthy foods.

If you are interested to know details about the risk factors of heart disease, you can visit heart.org. They have explained everything so nicely.

Antibody slows the growth and spread cancer cells found

A group of scientists, from QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, has found an antibody that slows the growth and spread of common cancers.

The researchers found that the antibody inhibited the spread of lung, breast, melanoma and prostate cancer cells. It was doing this by activating immune cells which are known as Natural Killer (NK) cells.

The study lead author, Professor Mark Smyth, said that one kind of protein called CD96 sits on the surface of Natural Killer immune cells and stops the cells from becoming over-activated and attacking the body’s own healthy cells.

Smyth added that they previously found that cancers hijacked that process and stopped the immune system from recognizing cancer cells and becoming activated. Thus cancer would spread throughout the body.

In the latest study, the researchers have found that an antibody blocks CD96 and enables more effective NK cells activation. In this process, the NK cells detect and destroy the cancer cells.

The study opened a new horizon in immunotherapy treatments to fight cancer. Immunotherapy is a fast-developing field. In case of treating cancer, it is causing a revolution. To treat cancer it uses patient’s own immune system. It is also used in other serious diseases too.

According to Smyth, the findings are very significant and exciting. “In treating some cancers, immunotherapy treatments are proving highly successful”, Smyth added. However, the researchers are focusing on developing new treatments which work on a different types of immune cells which are known as cytotoxic T cells.

Smyth pointed out that by contrast, they had shown that they could slow the spread of cancer by targeting Natural Killer cells. They think that this method will be just as important and effective in future as other immunotherapy treatments which are being used now.

It was a significant finding that the antibody was more effective in slowing the spread of the cancer cells. It was prolonging survival when it was used in combination with existing agents which targets and activates cytotoxic T cells.

The journal Cancer Discovery published the study.

Symptoms of Cancer, Many Women Avoid

Nowadays the types of cancer are almost equal in men and women because of living condition. But due to gender difference some cancers are found more in women than in men. Among them, breast and uterus cancer are the most common. Many women died of these cancers. However, if the symptoms are found earlier, it becomes easy to take advantage of the initial diagnosis and treatment. It can save many lives. Popular Health website Webmd and Wisemind Health Body informed us some signs of cancer.

Short Breathing:
Lung cancer is higher in men than women. However, women also smoke now due to changes of living styles. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer. Lung cancer made breath short. If it happens, go to the doctor immediately.

Cough and Long term chest pain:
The worst kind of cough is found in different types of cancer especially in leukemia and lung tumors. Many lung cancer patients report long term pain in the chest. Sometimes the pain spreads in shoulders and hands.

Fever and Infection:
Fever and Infection are the symptoms of leukemia. Cancer of blood begins at bone marrow. This disease reduces the ability to fight against infection. So, talk to a doctor if frequent fever and infection are seen.

Fatigue and Weakness:
Long term fatigue and weakness are the sings of different types of cancer. Fatigue may occur for various reasons. However, if you feel fatigue for a long time, consult a doctor.

Sudden Weight loss:
If anybody lose weight although not doing any exercise, he has to consider it as a sigh of cancer.

Bloodshed:
In case of abnormal menstrual bleeding, consult a doctor. It is a symptom of cervical cancer.

Changes in Breast:
If you feel any pawn in the breast or armpit or you feel any change there, consult a doctor. This is a sign of breast cysts. However, it also happens in case of breast cancer.

Bleeding during Sexual intercourse:
Bleeding during Sexual intercourse such as coming out white lime water in the symptom of cervical cancer.

Loss of Appetite:
One of the symptoms of cervical cancer is loss of appetite or to feel stomach full. This may happen for other cancers too. Do not avoid it if it happens for a long time.

Changes in skin:
Changes color of the skin or mole is the common symptom of skin cancer. If it happens, consult a doctor too.

Blood in the stool or Urine:
If blood passes with urine or stool, consult a doctor. Blood with stool is the sign of piles. It is a sign of colon cancer too. Blood in the urine is the symptom of bladder or kidney cancer. So, do not avoid if anything of this happens.

Stomach ache and sadness:
Depression along with stomach ache is the symptom of pancreatic cancer. If this symptom is seen in anybody in the family, consult a doctor immediately.

How much you Know the Causes of Lung Cancer?

Lung cancer is one of the serious cancer of limbs of the body. There is no reason to think that you are healthy now, so you will not have cancer in future. We can be affected by lung cancer easily. Especially, some of our wrong activities and different types of unhealthy factors are increasing the risks of lung cancer. In most cases, these unhealthy reasons remain unknown to us.

Smoking:
It is known to all that smoking increases the possibility of cancer. But the problem is, the process is very slow. For this reason, smokers cannot realize that their smoking habit is leading them to death. A study in the USA has found that smoking is responsible for 90% of lung cancer.

Passive Smoking:
If your friend is a smoker and you are a nonsmoker, mind it that your friend is doing harm to himself and you as well. The reason is, those who smoke and those who stay around them and come in contact with smoke, they also live in high risk of cancer.

Radon:
Radon is a chemical element that creates harmful influence when it is exposed to human body. Radon is seen to be produced underground where air and light cannot reach. Those who work below the ground or in the deep underground mines, and dig or this kind of task, they come in contact with radon at risk of lung cancer.

Different types of chemicals:
Because of excessive exposure to the elements such as - asbestos, arsenic, nickel, chromium etc. the risk of lung cancer increases manifold. Factory workers should be careful all the time.

The families where cancer patients live or lived:

Those who live in a family where there were cancer patients or are cancer patients, are at risk of cancer. Especially, cancers like lung cancer that can affect easily. So, if there is a family history of cancer, all the family members should have regular check-up not neglecting it.

New Pressure Sensor Will Detect Breast Cancer

One day X-rays will not be used to detect breast cancer in women. A pair of gloves where pressure sensors are attached may complete the task, researchers informed this. The sensor, transparent and bendable may help doctors to check women for breast cancer. Fox News reported the study on February 09, 2016.

Sometimes, doctors touch patients' body for various reasons. For an example, they try to fill hard spots to find out any abnormalities such as tumors. When they do this, they press the parts of the body slightly.

Actually, doctors may depend on their feeling while touching the body of the patients to detect cancer. The study senior author said.

The researchers said that doctors could use pressure sensors to analyze their patients which could be more effective than their natural feeling. The senior author Takao Someya told Live Science that a sensor-incorporated glove can use the data input into it from the breast because generally tumors are more rigid than breast tissue.

As human body is soft, the existing body touching sensors are soft too. The soft sensors work well but the problem is, the sensors are not bendable. On the other hand, these devices are not able to differentiate between their own bending and the objects bending, the researchers said.

The lead author of the study Sungwon Lee from University of Tokyo, said many groups are trying to develop bendable sensors which are able to measure pressure but not any of the device can measure feel objects because they are sensitive to bending.

The researchers are saying now that they have made an ultra-sensitive transparent pressure sensor which can detect pressure clearly, though the sensor is bent to an extraordinary degree.

The device measured pressure successfully when the scientists were experimenting it. The researchers said that they found the device could detect small pressure changes also.

The new sensor may make robots which are sensitive to pressure. The scientists want to develop a stretchable pressure sensor in future.

An Exciting News for Cancer Patients

A new therapy which can retrain the immune system of our body to fight against cancer has made the health world excited when researchers found that more than 90 percent of terminally ill cancer patients recovered. BBC reported it on Feb 16, 2016.

Scientists took white blood cells (WBC) from leukaemia patients and put back after modifying them in the lab.

But they did not publish or review the data because it was said that two patients died because of extreme immune response. Experts mentioned the trail as exciting but still more steps have to be taken.

In Washington DC, at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the news bubbled out. When all other treatments had failed and the patients had two to five months to live only, the therapy was used, said the lead scientist of the research. According to him, the early data is groundbreaking.

Scientists took out t-cells which are called killer cells from dozens of patients' immune system. The t-cells were genetically modified by the researchers to target acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

One cancer expert told that they are still in confusion about the result of the study because the data is unavailable.

Leukaemia is a malignant disorder of the haemopoietic tissues. Characteristically, it is associated with increased numbers of primary white cells present in the bone marrow.

There are two types of leukaemia: Acute type and Chronic type. Malignancy of haemopoietic progenitor cell is known as acute leukaemia. The malignant cell loses its ability to mature and differentiate. Next the cell proliferate  uncontrollably and at last replace normal bone marrow elements.

On the other hand, Chronic leukaemia is a disorder of proliferation of cells which is unrestrained and excessive. This type of leukaemia occurs mainly in the age-range of 30-80 years. It is equally common in men and women.

Prostate Cancer Diagnosis in Urine

To diagnose prostate cancer, scientists have invented a new device. Before learning about that, let us know something about prostate gland and prostate cancer –

Prostate Gland:
  • A walnut-sized gland.
  • Present in men, located between the bladder and the penis just in front of the rectum.
  • The function of prostate gland is to secret alkaline fluid. The fluid contains semen and seminal vesicle fluid.
  • During ejaculation, the fluid comes out.
Prostate Cancer:
  • Prostate cancer develops in the prostate gland of men's reproductive system.
  • It is mostly slow growing in nature and obesity, family history and age are the main risk factors.
  • Almost 99 percent of prostate cancer occurs after 50 years of age.
  • In men, it is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide and it is occurring in the developed countries more commonly.
  • Biopsy is the only testing method that can confirm the diagnosis of prostate cancer currently.
  • At early stage prostate cancer shows no clear symptoms.
  • In 2012, more than 177,800 American men were diagnosed with prostate cancer. Among them more than 27,000 died.
  • It is estimated that more than 180,000 American men may be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year (2016). Among them over 26,000 men may face death.
  • In the US, prostate cancer is the second most leading cause of death in men.
So, we have known that initially prostate cancer has no symptoms to diagnose. To solve this problem scientists are creating a special tool which can smell prostate cancer in urine. This diagnostic test may end the painful diagnostic procedures Biopsy which men undergo at present.

About Biopsy:
Biopsy is a medical test.
It is performed by a surgeon. An interventional radiologist or cardiologist can also perform this test.
Sample cells or tissues are extracted from the affected region. A pathologist examines it under microscope. It may be chemically analyzed too.
Biopsies are done mostly to detect cancer.
Biopsies are of many kinds. The most common biopsies are: Needle biopsy, Ultrasound-guided biopsy, CT-guided biopsy, Bone biopsy, Bone marrow biopsy, Skin biopsy, Kidney biopsy, Liver biopsy, Surgical biopsy, Prostate biopsy etc.

New Study on Prostate cancer test by smelling Urine:
Researchers studied 155 men and found the following results: 58 with prostate cancer, 24 bladder cancer and 73 hematuria or poor stream without cancer. The University of Liverpool and the University of the West of England jointly conducted the research, NDTV reported it on Feb 12, 2016. The Journal of Breath Research published the findings. Other leading media also highlighted the news with care.

Odoreader, a gas chromatography sensor system was used by the researchers. This Odoreader successfully identify the compounds in the urine. Actually, it is an 'electronic nose' which is able to smell prostate cancer in urine. The Odoreader was first introduced a couple of years ago for detecting bladder cancer. Researchers says that identifying prostate cancer at early stage is essential because it is more treatable at the earlier stage. Although detailed biopsies are done to detect prostate cancer, risk of failure remained to a great extent.

According to the researchers, if their test be successful, it will be revolutionary in prostate cancer diagnosis. It will be a milestone which will save many lives. After the primary testing, the researchers are seeking fund for details clinical testing and developing the device commercially. So, further studies will continue.

Cancer Days for Awareness

Cancer is always serious. Every year more than 8 million people die from cancer which is 13% of all deaths around the world. How much do you know about cancer? The following information everybody should know about cancer:
* Abnormal growth and spread of cells is called cancer.
* All tumors are not cancerous.
* Cancer can affect almost all parts of the body.
* There are more than 100 different types of cancers which affect humans.
* The most common types of cancer in men are lung, colorectal, stomach, prostate and liver cancer.   On the other hand, breast, lung, colorectal, uterine cervix, stomach cancer are the most common in women
* Smoking, obesity, poor diet, lack of physical activity and alcohol consumption are the main causes of cancer. Tobacco use is responsible for the most cancer deaths (about 22%).
* Surgery, Chemotherapy or radiotherapy are the treatment methods of cancer.
* Many cancers are preventable.
* Early detection and effective treatment reduce sufferings of cancer patients.

Every year, 'World Cancer Day' is observed on 4 February and 'International Childhood Cancer Day' is observed on 15 February. The main objectives of observing the days are:
1. Raising awareness about cancer and
2. Expressing support for cancer patients, survivors and their families.

In 2016, 'World Cancer Day' was observed on 4 February. Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) organized the day. On the day, world community adopted 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) to ensure healthy lives and promote well being for all. To reduce premature mortality from noncommunicable diseases like cancer everybody has acknowledged that collaborative action is imperative. WHO provided guidance engaging UN agencies and entities. WHO says that global participation and commitment is required for comprehensive cancer control.

Though rare, Childhood Cancer which arises in childhood(0-15 years) touches all regions of the world. According to World Health Organization(WHO), more than 150,000 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. The number may increase in future. Low and middle income countries cannot afford to treat their childhood cancer patients where 80% of cancer of children is treatable. Among all cancers, leukemia is the most common in childhood. Cancer registries which show actual data on cancer incidence are not available in poorer countries.

So, all governments, NGOs and other organizations should work together to prevent and cure cancer. Observing cancer days can be fruitful if collective actions are taken.

Is Deadly Ebola Coming Back?

Although the World Health Organization (WHO) did not recognize any Ebola Vaccine, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has developed a vaccine. The Time reported it on their Health page on Jan.14, 2016.

It was a great news for all when the WHO announced that West Africa is free from Ebola. But the news was good for a few hours only because a patient died from Ebola in Sierra Leone after the WHO's declaration.

So, it is said that tension is not over. Ebola is still a threat. Not being worried much, we have to know details about the deadly virus. You can visit BBC where you will find many articles, analysis and videos related to Ebola.

So, to know the present situation of Ebola, you have to visit the leading sites. Although Zika is getting priority over Ebola, nobody can deny that Ebola threat has not been finished yet.

Ebola was first reported in West Africa in 2014. And Ebola showed its most destruction power since its discovery in 1976. Six West African countries reported Ebola. The countries are Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Mali and the USA.

Ebola has killed more than 11,000 people. The WHO has acknowledged that the figure of death has been underestimated because of lacking of data. Still it needs time to declare an affected country Ebola-free. Though Ebola was confined to several West African countries, other countries were also in the threat.

So, all the people of the world have to know how Ebola attacks and spreads. Everybody has to know the destructive power of the deadly virus. All kinds of preventive measures have to be taken. Money has to be spent to invent more effective medicines. As Ebola can spread again from the affected countries, those countries have to be given most priority.

We know that Ebola spreads from man to man not by air like flu. So, the risk is always high. The virus exists on a surface about six days. Potential vaccines and medicines are being tested. Like other crisis, this crisis can be eliminated through combined efforts. All kinds of government and non-government organizations (NGO) should come forward to solve the problem.

Last two years we have seen that the wealthy countries were very active over Ebola issue. This kind of cooperative measures is needed to finish the crisis completely.

Deadly Diseases in the World Media

They are the killers. Who? The diseases such as Cancer, AIDS, Tuberculosis, Pneumonia, Malaria etc. Why are they killers? Because, a person must need to take treatment if these diseases attack. Without taking treatment no patient can be alive. In some cases, all efforts fail. These diseases can attack anybody, anytime. So, awareness is imperative. Let us know about the diseases from the largest source of information, Internet and try to prevent them....

Success of A New Cancer Therapy:
'Proton Beam Therapy' which was a controversy in 2014 has been proven more effective than conventional radiotherapy. This therapy can be used in the treatment of lung cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer etc. But the research is not complete. More research is needed to be confirmed(according to the researchers).  BBC reported it on Jan 30, 2016.

Taller? Higher Cancer Risk :
Taller people have lower cardiovascular disease and type-2 diabetes but higher risk of cancer. A new study has found it. Based on NDTV Health, Feb 03, 2016.

Killing Cancer Cells Drug:
After 30 years of research, Australian scientists have produced a drug that can kill cancerous blood cells. The scientists are excited because they have found that this drug is effective where other drugs are failure. This groundbreaking result may raise hope to thousands of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia patients. China Daily Health informed it on Jan 29, 2016.

True Picture Of Cancer In India:
India is in huge concern of Cancer as there is no specific database there. It is hindering cancer treatment. Most of the rural people do not get treatment because most of the cancer therapy centers are located in urban areas. If there were national registry on cancer, doctors would be able to treat the patients properly. So, Cancer picture in India is not clear because of lack of  National Database. NDTV Health reported it on Feb 04, 2016.

Cannabis Fight Against Cancer:
Scientists have been searching for natural remedies for cancer for a long time. They have found in the laboratory test on rats and mice that cannabis can kill cancer cell, can prevent cancer cell to grow protecting normal cells. On World Cancer Day, scientists have revealed it. Scientists are so excited that they have started testing it in brain cancer patients. But, they are still not sure whether cannabis would be effective in humans. Al Jazeera published a report on it on Feb 04, 2016.

From the above discussion, we have known something about the present conditions of the deadly diseases and their treatment. This discussion is not over. We should always visit the world media for updated news. It is imperative for all.
