A
sick person seeks remedy only, nothing else. Without proper treatment and
medicine, recovery from illness is almost impossible. There is no need for
taking medicine for some diseases. Sometimes we live in uncertainty not knowing
the correct information. So, we have to know about modern treatment methods and
medicines. Internet has made the task easy. So, let us see what information are
for us in the world media about treatment and medicine....
For New Antibiotics :
The
rampant use of Antibiotics has posed a threat to humanity. Gradually, the world
is entering "Post Antibiotic Era" where surgery and cancer therapies
which rely on antibiotics are under threat. By 2050, anti-resistant microbes
may kill 10 million people and cost $100 trillion. For more than 40 years,
world largest pharmaceutical companies have failed to bring new class of
antibiotics against gram negative bacteria. So the world has to develop
antimicrobial medicines and their affordable access. BBC Health reported it on Jan 21, 2016.
Taking the last chance for Heart Failure :
According to a BBC Health report on a study on Jan 26, 2016, Richard
Reach (59) was too unwell to have an open heart surgery. So, he took Balloon as
the last chance of treatment for heart failure. The Balloon, very small in
size, is inserted into the body without major surgery. Surgeons carried out
conventional operation to Mr Reach's heart 5 months later when his heart had
recovered enough. Mr Reach is feeling better and walking around now. It is a
single success story, so more research is needed.
7 Blockbusters In 2016:
In
2015, there were 11 blockbusters. This year drug companies are going to launch
7 blockbusters. Among the seven two top medicines are for chronic liver disease
and HIV. The potential annual sales may be $1 billion-plus. Foxnews Health reported it on Feb
03, 2016.
